As interest in breeding and dog showing on the island of Cyprus increases, so does the standard of dogs we are beginning to see emerge. One such excellent example is that of the recently titled “BEST DOG IN CYPRUS 2006” award going to HILDYDANE ZSACHARIAS, owned by Paul Bainbridge and his partner Craig Hulme, of APOLLODANE GREAT DANES in Paphos and registered to the Cyprus Kennel Club. Not only did Zsacharias run off with this very prestigeous award, he then went on to take the ultimate title of CHAMPION OF CHAMPIONS.
Zsacharias is their latest import from Perth, Western Australia and after careful consideration, was chosen to compliment the excellent bloodline already well established by APOLLODANE GREAT DANES. Bringing together the very best in American, German, Swiss and English bloodlines, Zac has shown quality and perfection to pass on to his progeny. He has great strength giving him poise and presence in the ring, he has excellent confirmation, a great top line, beautiful head and a temperament to absolutely die for.
In fact so outstanding is Zsacharias that one Judge recently commented on a show critique that “Zsacharias is the nearest to the perfect standard of the Great Dane seen for quite some time” having taken some three wins out of five from the recently titled World Champion Harlequin Great Dane, Ch Sun Della Baia Azzurra, owned by Silvanna Marcolina of Italy, Zac really knows how to present himself as a winner. All pretty impressive stuff for a dog who in only 8 weeks prior to Christmas, across 5 different countries, took an amazing 6 Champion titles, 1 Grand Champion title, a Best In Show, a 4th Best In Show, had numerous group wins and at the same time qualifying for Crufts 2007. The very prestigious Cyprus Dog Of The Year Award is calculated on the individual dogs success in any one year compared to every other dog in the representing country. The title CHAMPION OF CHAMPIONS is chosen from the very best the representing country has produced for it’s Champion line up and at the time of reporting, have been informed that this accolade has never ever before been achieved here in Cyprus by any other dog who in the same year scoops Best In Show, Breed Champion, Dog Of The Year and Champion Of Champions.
It is clear to see with Zac’s success why he was chosen to represent Cyprus as their first choice for 2006 awarded at the annual dinner dance held in Nicosia on February 3rd 2007, with over 70 senior officials from the FCI in Belgium in attendance along with members of the Cyprus Kennel Club.
So well traveled is Zac, he can now boast his very own frequent flyer card with most of the major airlines, as he has now become a regular passenger in and out of many of the International airports around Europe. Zsacharias has recently covered APOLLODANE GREAT DANES International Champion bitch, Hildydane Hildas Heidie, who was also awarded 5th place in this years Best Dog Of The Year Award so we can expect to see more of these spectacular Great Danes with a litter of puppies due in the late spring. Zac has already started his travels for 2007 adding yet another Champion title to those above and taking a Reserve Best In Show at the Molosser and Large Breed Speciality show in Slovenia early in January and becoming Russian Champion in Moscow in February 2007. A further Reserve Best In Show in Athens in April followed by yet another Reserve Best In Show and Third Best In Show in Cyprus makes Zac a strong candidate for some winning results later in the year. Something tells me we are going to see a lot more of Zac, especially as the breed standard improves with such quality breeding coming from APOLLODANE GREAT DANES.
ON FRIDAY 13th JULY 2007 WE HAD OFFICIAL CONFIRMATION FROM THE CYPRUS KENNEL CLUB THAT ZAC HAD ACHIEVED NOT ONLY HIS MULTI CHAMPION STATUS, BUT ALSO HIS GRAND CHAMPION STATUS OF WHICH WE ARE ALL DELIGHTED AND VERY PROUD.
IN 2008 ZAC’s WINNING PERFORMANCE IN THE CRUFTS 2008 OPEN CLASS SAW HIM RETURN TO CYPRUS AS THE VERY FIRST REGISTERED DOG IN THE CYPRUS KENNEL CLUB SINCE RECORDS BEGAN AS A CRUFTS WINNER. SPECIAL HONOUR AND RECOGNITION HAS BEEN MADE ON THE PAGES OF THE CYPRUS KENNEL CLUB AT www.cyppruskennelclub.net UNDER THE SECTION “NEWS” ONCE AGAIN WE ARE DELIGHTED AT THE SUCCESS ZAC BROUGHT TO CYPRUS AND WE WERE HONOURED TO REPRESENT THIS BEAUTIFUL ISLAND WHICH HAS BECOME HOME TO OUR FAMILY OF TOP WINNING DANES.
Special thanks to all of the Judges from around the world who have seen the quality in Zsacharias and have had faith in helping him to acheive all he has done todate. His win today has been a very special end to a very special year and thanks also to the Cyprus Kennel Club for allowing Zsacharias to represent them at such a high level of recognition.

It’s one (lucky) matter to have a specimen Gr8 Dane, but quite another to dedicate yourself to achieving much earned success. Dane companions know all too well what it means not to have a pocketbook dog. Or to share such a short time with them on this earth.

Hello there. I went through all the pictures you have online. I just loved looking at them and my heart was melting at the beautiful shots of scenery.
I really enjoyed looking at all the dog show pictures.
I was jumping around when I realized that Zac is a Hildydane dog. I know Hildy. Next time I see her I will have to tell her I looked at all the pictures of Zac.
