It is with sadness that Cyprus mourns the passing of the beautiful Harlequin Great Dane seen so often taking centre stage at shows in Cyprus and the rest of Europe.

“Cyprus Grand Champion Hildydane Hildas Heidie at Apollodane Great Danes Kennel in Paphos”

Heidie had been a true inspiration to the foundation of Apollodane Great Danes and in her life, which was unfortunately cut short due to an unexpected kidney infection, she had shown that her excellence and her quality would take her on to win all the major titles that she did in such a short show career.

When you lose one of your fur family members, because at the end of the day, that is what they become, we wonder what it is all about. For Heidie, her time on this earth was clearly not meant to be a long one, but it was definitely meant to be a happy one and there was no happier dog than Heidie when running around the show rings in Europe.

Heidie was such a beautiful Dane and we are fortunate to have owned her, as she gave us so much pleasure visiting new places, meeting new people and she fulfilled more in her short years than some dogs do in a full lifetime, so we feel blessed to have been her parents and guardian throughout this time and to have shown her a side to the show world she may never have seen.

She left her legacy with 9 beautiful puppies and will always be remembered each time they too take podium place in remembrance of her achievements. Now through them at least we have the opportunity to carry on her wonderful lines, so we are grateful to have kept them close by on the island to allow us to follow our dream on her behalf.

Heidie reached the top here on earth, so there was no place else for her to go except the “Rainbow Bridge.” Where ever she is, she will always be our number one girl and she will shine through every star to keep a light on our trophy room.

Now we have our memories of Heidie growing from a young pup in to a stunning top winning bitch. We have the beautiful friends we met through Heidies show career and we have the gorgeous puppies that will all carry her amazing genes from generation to generation. So, although this is a very sad time with her passing, it is also a happy time, to think she has left us with so many wonderful things we can build on in the future and remember her as the top winning girl she was.

I did not want to believe it when Michael told me about Heidie going to the Rainbow bridge - it is getting crowded up there with all of our favourites.

Michael and I sincerely wish you joy in your memories of your Champion - all of your photos & videos show what a wonderful life she had - thank you for sharing her short time with all of us. She will now meet up with our Lucy and all the other fur family at the bridge.

Trusting the tear in your heart is healing as life goes on for your beloved Great Danes.
luv Val, Michael, Vanilla and Ahliah
