FAQ or ‘how to use this site…’

About the Site

Apollodane.com is built using the Wordpress engine, a blogging content management system that we highly recommend.

What’s so different?

Apollodane.com functions like any other website you might visit. You’ll find all the pages of information regarding the Great Dane and Apollodane’s superior breeding program below the link you just clicked, on the right hand sidebar.

Where this site might differ from your average web page is the interactivity we so very hope you’ll engage us with.

This blog (web log) will be regularly updated with the thoughts and engagements of the company’s owners, Paul Bainbridge and Craig Hulme, an online diary/account of the day to day involvements of breeding and showing the finest Great Danes.

Paul and Craig welcome your own thoughts and comments. Ordinarily you might like to email them. Using this site you can add comments to each post Paul and Craig make.

See the ‘no comments‘ or ‘comments’ link at the bottom of each post? Click there, enter your name email and a website address (if you have one) write a comment and hit ’submit’.

If you’re a first time commentator it won’t immediately appear, Paul and Craig need to okay it. When they do it will appear on the site below their own post - they might even respond if you’re nice! You might even get a fellow visitor answer back and who knows where we’ll end up?

How do I find the information I’m looking for?

Well that depends on what you want to find. You can get access to almost all the static information regarding the business, the dogs and our breeding program from the right hand sidebar.

There will also be further information on the site in our regular posts. These appear in the main window of the site, exactly where the page you’re reading is right now.

By default all the posts are in chronological order, but say you want to see only information regarding, let’s say, a particular dog. Well you could click on the dogs name in the right hand side bar under the ‘Apollodane Manifesto’ button. This is where the most important and statutory information is kept, pedigree etc. Here you’ll also find links to important information within this site/blog about that particular dog.
But there is another way. Each bit of information is also catergorised (bloggers call these tags). Scroll to the bottom right of the page and you’ll see a menu titled ‘Catergories’ clicking on a Catergory here will display all the posts relating to it’s tag.

So clicking on ‘Odette’ will show all the posts in which Odette is mentioned. The facts and the fun stuff.

Want to see only details of the awards Apollodane’s dogs have garnered, just click ‘Awards’.

It might seem complicated at first but it’s easy for you to get to the information you want!

Believe me it was harder to organise it all in the first place.

Why go to all this effort?

The internet is constantly evolving and the main thing the internet is good at is providing lots of information. We feel that you shouldn’t have to click, click and click again to see what you really want to see and so offer this advanced level of interaction for your benefit. Try it, we think you’ll like it and if you become a regular visitor to the site you’ll soon see how useful it all is.

Above all, given the amount of care and attention we like to pour over our dogs and breeding program. Shouldn’t you, our valuble clients and visitors, be given just a little bit of that thought to allow you the convenience to use this site in the most flexible way possible, we hope you’ll agree!
